Turin (Italian: Torino; Piedmontese: Turin) is a major industrial city in north-western Italy, capital of the Piedmont region, located mainly on the west bank of the Po River. The population of Turin city is 908,000 (2004 census), but with its metropolitan area totals about 1.7 million inhabitants. The province is one of the largest in Italy, with 6,830 square kilometres (2,637 sq. mi), and one of the most populous, with 2,236,941 inhabitants at the 2004 census. Turin is currently hosting the 2006 Winter Olympics. Turin is also well-known as the home of the shroud of Turin.

According to Forbes magazine, Gates is not only America’s wealthiest person, but he is also the richest person in the world for the last 10 years, with a net worth of approximately US$51 billion, as of September 2005^[5].

A number of companies in the high-tech industry are based in Redmond. The largest employer in the city by far is Microsoft Corporation, with over 22,000 full-time workers and more than 8 million square feet (750,000 square meters) of office space.

The Principality of Sealand is a micronation (a self-declared but unrecognised state-like entity) that claims as its territory Roughs Tower, a former Maunsell Sea Fort located in the North Sea 10 Â km (six Â miles) off the coast of Suffolk, England, as well as territorial waters in a twelve-nautical-mile radius. Sealand is occupied by the family and associates of Paddy Roy Bates. The population of the facility rarely exceeds five, and its inhabitable area is 550 Â m ².
