Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence

Finally after 1 year of delays, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence shipped!

I had ordered it way back in December 2005, expecting it to be delivered around Christmas time. However Christmas came, and went….. Then a new shipping date was set at February 2006 , and then May… and then August then again December. By this time I was seriously considering buying it from Japan.

To my surprise I logged onto Amazon, and was presented with the great news that my order had just shipped. I then procceded to sit by the post box for the rest of the day, and then I remembered that I had school. I got home and *GASP* There it was lying on the table waiting to be unwrapped. I tore off the packaging and ran upstairs with my brand new copy of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, and stuck disk 2 straight in my PS2.

Review:

Disk 1: Subsistence
Disk 1 of the 3 disk set contains the great game everyone knows, Metal Gear Solid 3. New features in the game are the new 3d camera instead of the fixed one, a plethora of facepaints, camo and other things to make your Snake look the best around. (Its basically the same game ๐Ÿ˜€ )

Disk 2: Persistence
Now this is where the real fun is.

  1. Online play- Play against people…. online
  2. Demo Theater- Duel against foes from the game
  3. Secrets Theater- Shhhhh….
  4. Snake Vs Monkey
  5. Metal Gear – The original version from the MSX
  6. Metal Gear 2- Again an old Metal Gear game from the MSX

As you can see, there are a lot more features than the original “Snake Eater” release.

Disk 3: Existence
It is all the cutscenes from the game made into one enormous film, I won’t give anything away, but it is the story of the game, nicely wrapped up on one disk.

Gameplay9/10 – Could Improve the camera
Graphics–  9/10 – Nothing really beats this
Enjoyment8/10 – Too many cutscenes I think
Length8/10– The game does have its “long” parts

Overall score: 9/10- Excelent game, much better than snake eater, A must have.

Telewest Targets 50 to 100Mbps!

The cable company claims it will achieve this hundred-fold increase in broadband speeds, compared with the average connection today, thanks to its investment in Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS) standards. Telewest is hoping to launch a service based on DOCSIS 3 middleware รขโ‚ฌโ€ which will allow download speeds between 50Mbps and 100Mbps by the end of 2006. DOCSIS3 works over hybrid fibre co-axial cable, but Telewest is also planning to upgrade its Ethernet service to allow users to plug Ethernet cable straight into the back of a computer without the need of a modem.

9/11, Five years on..

5 years on I would like you to remember my mum’s 2nd cousin who died in the attacks in New York. Her name was Melanie de Vere.

You may have seen tv programs with her in:

“9/11 – The Twin Towers – BBC

Based on the testimonies of survivors, victims’ families, emergency workers and city officials, the film opens with a glimpse of the everyday world of work and office life. Melanie de Vere, a 30-year-old British publishing executive, is helping to host a conference in the North Tower, and Stanley Praimnath is a banker devoted to his religion and family. ”

I ask you to keep her and her family in your prayers.
